FAQ

Your Questions Answered

Are your services covered by extended health benefits?

Most extended health benefit companies will cover the skills groups and individual counselling sessions as these services are being supervised and provided by a registered psychologist. However, every benefit company is different and it is recommended that you check with your benefit company ahead of time so you know how much they will cover.

What is DBT?

DBT stands for Dialectical Behaviour Therapy. It is an evidence-based, cognitive-behavioural approach to therapy that was originally developed by Dr. Marsha Linehan who wanted to find an effective treatment for individuals who were suffering from chronic suicidality. Now, DBT has been shown by research to be effective for a variety of mental health problems that include: depression, anxiety, eating disorders, substance use disorders, and some trauma-related symptoms.

When are the skills groups?

The skills groups run on Mondays from 6:00pm to 8:00pm for a specified period of time. If there is a long weekend that falls on a Monday within the specified period of time, there is no skills group that night.

Which skills group is right for me?

Ultimately, you will get the most out of the skills if you learn about all of them as they are designed to be used interchangeably. That being said, some individuals do need to focus more on one skills set compared to others and that is why we offered each skill set separately and provide a free phone consultation to help you determine what is your best path.
